Today at IMCG F-6/2, Dr. Khurram Akram, Director Technical at the Federal Directorate of Immunization, delivered an insightful and detailed podcast on cervical cancer and the HPV vaccine. He started by explaining what Human Papillomavirus (HPV) is and its direct connection to cervical cancer, highlighting that this cancer is highly preventable through timely vaccination and regular screenings. Dr. Khurram discussed the recommended age for girls to get the HPV vaccine, its effectiveness even when given later, and addressed safety concerns with scientific evidence. He emphasized that while the vaccine offers strong protection, regular health check-ups and screenings are still essential. Additionally, he tackled common myths and misconceptions that often lead to hesitation among parents and students, stressing the importance of awareness campaigns and education in overcoming these barriers. His comprehensive talk not only clarified doubts but also motivated students to prioritize women’s health and confidently embrace preventive care.
